Maria Rainer, a young postulant forever getting into trouble, leaves
the convent to become a governess for the seven children of a
wealthy, Austrian widower who has grown into a cold disciplinarian.
Soon, she shows the children the wonders of life and the joy of
music - and eventually softens the heart of their father and gains his
love. Marie and Georg von Trapp are married, only to have their
world brought down around them by the 1938 Anschluss of Austria,
where Nazi Germany takes control of the country and demands that
Captain von Trapp assume a position in the German Navy.
An amazing score features such well known songs as: Climb Every
Mountain, Favorite Things, Do, Ra,Me, I have confidence and, of
course, the title song.
