OUR MISSION or... Why put a theater inside a
Mall?
The Starlight Theater and The Oakland Theatre
Guild are determined to be a positive force in our
community by presenting the finest in theatrical
entertainment, by providing classes in Acting and
Theater Arts, and by promoting the talents of local
performers. A lively theatre must be committed to all
the cultural aspects of community life. We subscribe to
the philosophy of THEATERWORK in saying “A
Theater should be a gathering place, a place of ideas,
stories, reflection and dialogue...a place of culture. A
lively theater sees its community as producers and
creators of culture, not consumers. Culture is not
something we have, it is something we make...and it is
a collective enterprise. A lively, robust theater, in the
heart of its community, has to continually examine its
role in building up a cultural democracy...no stories left
untold, no lives left uncelebrated!” ...This commitment
to culture must be renewed with each generation, or it
will die. This is why we chose to build our theater inside
the Summit Place Mall, close to the people we serve.
We hope you will be a part of this Grand
Adventure.

What's A Seussical?
Seussical is a delightful live stage
musical extravaganza based on the
stories of Dr. Seuss. It incorporates
most of his best loved books, including
Horton Hears a Who, McElligot’s Pool,
Gertrude McFuzz, Horton Hatches the
Egg, Solla Sollew,-- even Green Eggs
and Ham-- in a fast-paced fusion of
summer fun; all narrated by the
inimitable Cat in the Hat. Anyone who
can remember reading about Horton
the Elephant will love this show.
Seussical played for 200 performances
on Broadway at the Richard Rogers
Theater, ending its run in May of 2001.
This will be the first performance of this
show in Oakland County.
