| Acting Classes at the Starlight Theater 2006-2007 |
| The Pulsar Players (Grades 3 to 5) Tuesdays, 6:00pm to 7:00pm Fee: $95 These active kids will learn the basics of acting by doing. Emphasis is placed on theater activities that build confidence and skill. Students will learn to develop their abilities in a gentle, supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to participate. It should be loads of fun. At the end of the session the students will present a short theater production demonstrating what they have learned. |
| The Novas (Grades 6 to 9) Mondays, 6:00pm to 7:15pm Fee: $95 For students who are ready to take on the challenge of the theater, this class will build self-confidence and develop acting skills through a variety of theatrical experiences utilizing mime, movement, and vocal exercises, as well as improvisation, monologues, scenes and skits. There will be a presentation by the class at the end of the term. |
| The Oakland Actor’s Guild (Adults) Mondays, 8:30pm to 9:45pm Fee: $95 Whether you have never set foot on a stage before, or have been acting all your life, the Oakland Actor’s Guild is the perfect place to develop and hone your theater skills. A relaxed atmosphere with plenty of challenges is what the Guild offers. Participants will work on monologues and scenes, as well as participate in improv games. If you’re currently working on a specific role, or planning to audition for one, this is the ideal place to work and evolve in the company of supportive actors and staff. The troupe will produce a presentation for family and friends to be delivered at the end of the session. |
| The Quantum Players (Grades 10 to 12) Mondays, 7:15pm to 8:15pm Fee: $95 While continuing their journey in the theater (or embarking on a new one) students will deepen their involvement in such areas as character development, comedic timing, and dramatic interpretation, with increasingly more difficult exercises and acting challenges. The Quantum Players will work on scenes for a final presentation at the end of the session. |
| Sponsored by the Oakland Theatre Guild Acting Classes are divided into four age groups. Each session will run 8 weeks. The Fall 2007 term begins September 10 and ends on November 14, 2007.
